Why the engine has to be active
A vault is passive on purpose — it holds what you give it and asks nothing, which is exactly why processing rots inside it. Processing is the only step that requires thinking, it has no deadline, and a passive tool will never nudge you through it. An engine is the opposite: it interrogates the note, grounds it, and commits it to an action. That's the difference between a system that stores potential and one that realizes it. Fair questions
Does it replace Obsidian / Notion?
No. It's the capture-and-process front end. Developed notes still live in whatever vault you prefer — Thought Spark just makes sure they arrive developed instead of raw.
Isn't this just another quick-capture tool?
Capture is the table stakes, not the point. The point is the processing that follows it: Clarify, Research, Act. That's the step other capture tools — and vaults — leave entirely to you.
Does it respect GTD / Zettelkasten?
Yes — deliberately. Clarify is the "clarify" step and the fleeting-to-permanent transition; Act generates the next actions GTD runs on. It handles the front of the pipeline and hands off cleanly.
